Holi Festival at Athena Montessori Children’s Program
At Athena Montessori Children’s Program, celebrating Holi, the vibrant Indian festival of colors, is a joyful and enriching experience that unites our community in a burst of color and culture. Each spring, our White Plains facility comes alive with the spirit of Holi, creating a sensory-rich environment that excites and educates our young learners.
The festivities begin with an introduction to the significance of Holi, often referred to as the “Festival of Colors.” Teachers share the story behind Holi, explaining how it marks the arrival of spring, the triumph of good over evil, and the joy of new beginnings. Through storytelling, children learn about the legend of Holika and Prahlad, which underscores the festival’s theme of victory and righteousness.
One of the highlights of Holi at Athena Montessori is the color powder play. This playful activity, often held outdoors to embrace the festival’s spirit, is carefully supervised to ensure safety and inclusivity. Non-toxic, skin-safe powders create a vibrant and safe environment for everyone.
